A welcoming space where rhythm meets brain health — building coordination, focus, confidence, and friendship through the joy of drumming.

Rhythm & Drum Club

Overview

Mission & goals

The Rhythm & Drum Club uses group drumming, percussion, and timing activities to support attention, motor coordination, self-regulation, and social engagement. Inspired by research in music, motor learning, and neurodiversity, every session is structured to feel playful, inclusive, and meaningful for participants of all abilities.

Who it is for

  • Neurodiverse youth and teens
  • Families looking to participate together
  • Children seeking sensory-friendly group activities
  • Anyone curious about rhythm — no experience needed

What participants do

Inside the experience

  • Play hand drums and percussion in a supportive group circle
  • Learn call-and-response patterns and keep a shared beat
  • Move, clap, and step to build timing and coordination
  • Compose short ensemble pieces together
  • Take quiet regulation breaks whenever they're needed
  • Share progress in low-pressure showcase moments

Why it matters

The bigger picture

Rhythm asks the brain to listen, predict, and move at the same time — a combination that supports attention, motor timing, and self-regulation. Doing it in a group adds something research consistently points to: belonging. For neurodiverse youth and their families, a space that is playful, predictable, and genuinely welcoming can matter as much as the activity itself.
